What is it?
Basalt is an extrusive volcanic rock, usually black or greyish tone and fine grained due to the rapid cooling of the magma at the earth’s surface.

Basaltina, quarried since Roman times in Bagnoregio (near Lazio), is medium/dark grey in colour and has small, slightly elongated holes that are factory filled and give Basaltina its character. It is Basalt with great project history – Castel Sant Angelo in Rome and the Dolce & Gabbana stores worldwide.

Where can I use it?
Basaltina is frost resistant and durable so very versatile and used for many types of applications. From kitchen work tops, vanity tops, internal flooring, pavements and cladding.

What sizes are available?
We are able to order good sized slabs for special items if required, please advise your requirement in this case but generally standard tile sizes are no real problem.

What finishes are available?
Honed, bush hammered, antiqued and polished.
